Digital Initiatives Student Employment

The Digital Initiatives office is located in Boatwright Library and operates Monday through Friday between the hours of 7:30am and 4:00pm.

Position Types

Digital Scanning Assistant

Assists in the scanning, processing and digitization of materials for inclusion in digital library projects, electronic reserves, interlibrary loan and document delivery. Performs tasks using Adobe Photoshop, Acrobat Professional and OmniPage OCR software.

Hours and Pay

$7.25 / hr, students must work at least 6 hours per week during normal operating hours.

Metadata Editor

Applies quality-assurance measures to data, including the review, correction and parsing of XML files against original content in image files. Creates original XML documents from texts and provides description and additional encoding to data when required. Manages work of scanning assistants and performs initial quality control. This position requires significant knowledge of XML or experience as a scanning assistant.

Hours and Pay

$10.00 / hr, students must work at least 6 hours per week during normal operating hours.
