Researching Business Advertising in the Real and Virtual Worlds
Use the Library Catalog to locate books, videos, and other materials owned by the University of Richmond. (You must use an index to identify articles within periodicals). The catalog is best for books on general principles of advertising and marketing or about companies and industries.
For articles, use these databases:
Academic Search Complete A general index to scholarly journals and popular magazines.
ABI-Inform Scholarly index of business literature.
Business Source Premier World's largest full-text business database.
Useful terms:
Advertising, marketing, commerce, product development, interactive marketing e-commerce, marketing strategy, Linden Lab, virtual reality, virtual communities. Also use the names of products and industries.
Whenever you find a good article. look at its subject headings, you may be able to use them to find other relevant articles that do not use the key words you are using.
If the full text of the article you want is not in the database you are seaching, check Journal Locator to see if we have it in another source or in our print collection.
You might also look for videos of ads on Youtube.
