Borrow an iPad

Apple iPadBoatwright Library has a small collection of Apple iPads (version 1, 16gb, wi-fi only) available for checkout to current faculty, staff and students. Each iPad comes with the default applications. You are free to register the iPad to your personal iTunes account and download apps, however upon return to the library we will restore it to factory settings which will remove your personal information and any items you downloaded. Any purchases you make will also be removed.

Recommended Apps

Here are some apps you may want to try:

  • AppStart - Better than a manual, apps and essential tips for getting started with your ipad.
  • Netflix (separate Netflix account required)
  • Angry Birds (warning, you will feel compelled to buy your own iPad after playing this)

Borrowing an iPad, Loan Period and Replacement Fee

To borrow an iPad please visit Boatwright's Main Service Desk and present your ID. They are issued on a first come, first served basis. Each iPad may be borrowed for two weeks. One renewal may be possible depending on demand. You will also need to sign a waiver at the time of checkout acknowledging that you will be responsible for the device if it is damaged, lost or stolen. The replacement fee is $550.

Adding Content

As stated above, you are welcome to install additional apps, download books, music and videos to the iPad while it is checked out to you. However any purchases you make will be removed once the iPad is returned.
