General Policy and Deadlines

  • Limit both book and article reserves to required readings.
  • Due to high volume, reserve items required for the start of the semester should be submitted at least 2 weeks prior to the start of each semester. During the semester, allow 3 working days for reserve processing.
  • Requests will be processed in the order that they are received according to stated priority.
  • Copyright: All reserve request forms must be fully completed for copyright clearance and permissions.

Electronic Reserves - Procedures -- NOTE:  New Procedure for E-Reserves

  • You are no longer required to submit photocopies of items owned by the library. Library staff will scan all library-owned items.
  • For items owned by the library, use the online Electronic Reserve Request Form.  Do not submit print copies of library-owned material, including materials available electronically through online databases.
  • For items NOT owned by the library: Submit physical copies of the requested materials, along with the PDF Electronic Reserve Request Form. Do not staple.

Books - Procedures

  • For items owned by the library, use the online book request forms
    (either online or PDF).
  • For items NOT owned by the library, print a copy of the PDF version of the book request form, complete and submit along with the required materials. Please note that interlibrary loan books cannot be placed on reserve.  However, the library will be glad to order book titles that we do not currently own.
  • Personal Books: Notify Susan Opdycke if you want books to remain on reserve for the following semester. Otherwise, the books will be returned to you via campus mail.
