General Policy and Deadlines

  • Limit both book and article reserves to required readings.
  • Reserve items should be submitted at least 2 weeks prior to the start of each semester or at the end of the present semester for early processing.
  • During the semester, allow 3 working days for reserve processing
  • Requests will be processed in the order received.

Books - Procedures

  • Use the Online Book Request Form to request monographs owned by the UR Libraries.
  • Use the Book/Print Reserves Form for library-owned or personal copies of books. The library cannot be responsible for damage/loss of personal books. Books from other libraries cannot be placed on reserve.
  • Please notify Susan Opdycke at sopdycke@richmond.edu or 289-8006 at the end of each semester if you want books to remain on reserve for the following semester. They will be removed if there is no notification.
 

Electronic Reserves - Procedures

  • Obtain a clear, legible single-sided copy of the document. Use paper clips instead of staples.  Indicate if color copies are required.
  • Fully complete an Electronic Reserve Request Form. Please submit a copyright title page if available. This information is required to obtain copyright permissions.
  • Indicate whether UR Libraries owns a copy of the publication; if so, we may be able to link directly to the resource through an existing agreement.
  • Indicate if the document has been placed placed on electronic reserve in previous semesters.
  • Submit the materials and the Electronic Reserve Request Form to the Main Service Desk or via campus mail to Susan Opdycke, Boatwright Library.

Copryight - Procedures:

  • The library is assisting faculty by obtaining copyright permission. If the request form is not complete, the documents cannot be processed until all the information is submitted. This information is required for obtaining copyright permission and to permit the library to abide by the legal stipulations for copyright use.
  • If copyright permission is denied, you will receive notification and the item will be removed from reserves within a few business days.
