Free Educator Borrower Cards for Public Librarians and Public School Educators

Eligibility

  • Full-time, certified public school teachers (K-12) and public librarians.
  • Applicants must have a current employer identification card.
  • Applicants must have a current Virginia driver’s license.

Privileges

  • Educators may borrow a total of 10 book items from Boatwright Library, Parsons Music Library or the Curriculum Materials Center(CMC).
  • Items are checked out for 28 days with two renewals from all locations except the CMC. CMC books only circulate for two weeks, no renewals are allowed.

Our Resources

  • Major collections in the sciences, social sciences, fine arts, humanities, film, maps, theater, government documents, and rare books and manuscripts.
  • Approximately 500,000 volumes of books, more than 100,000 bound periodicals, and thousands of multimedia items.
  • Additionally, over 110,000 journals, 245,000 books, and nearly 375 research databases are accessible through library computers with guest accounts.
  • We offer public Wi-Fi access through “VisitUR”. Limited use guest accounts are available to community users who present a photo ID; this one-day account allows the search of library resources on site if needed.

Parking

  • Free parking after 5:00pm near each library location.
  • A daily visitor parking pass may be obtained through Parking Services in the Special Programs Building.
  • Other parking restrictions may be in effect during athletic events.
