Faculty Proxy Service

University of Richmond faculty may designate authorized UR students or staff as library proxies.  Proxy authorization permits faculty to send an assistant to the library to check out materials on their behalf.  In order to use this service, the faculty member must complete and sign the Faculty Proxy Card Application.  Upon completion, please deliver the form to the Boatwright Library Main Service Desk for approval.

How it Works

When a person with proxy authorization arrives at a circulation desk, they must present their SpiderCard and indicate they are checking the material out for a specific faculty member. Items checked-out via proxy will carry the same faculty circulation period of 120 days.

Proxy authorizations may be established in advance of sending a proxy to pick up materials. Designated proxies may not use the authorization to checkout materials for their personal use.  Unauthorized checkouts will result in the proxy authorization being cancelled.

Faculty may view and renew the materials checked out to them by using the My Account feature available through the UR Library Catalog.  Items will not renew if the book is on hold for another person or if the book has exceeded the number of renewals allowed.
