JOB SUMMARY: Assists with daily collections management, scanning and digitizing of materials for inclusion in teaching image collection and images as needed by faculty and staff. Perform image research to find preo existing images as well as the best source possible for new images. Create original metadata in JSTORForum database for new images. Must be able to work between the hours of 8 am and 5 pm a minimum of 5 hours, but preferably 10 hours per week.
SPECIFIC DUTIES:

Research image requests to avoid duplication and find best sources for new images

Research existing images to provide complete metadata

Scan images and clean-up and resize images according to image collections standards
using Adobe Acrobat, Adobe Photoshop, and EPSON scanning software

Create digital images using flatbed scanner and slide scanner

Save and back up files
-
Perform periodic quality assurance tasks

Upload new images to teaching collection database - JSTORForum
-
Create original metadata descriptions of new images in JSTORForum using authority
vocabularies and information from source materials – additional research may be required

Keep record of activities and submit to project supervisor

Other duties as assigned
SKILLS REQUIRED:

Interest in digital imaging/photography and experience with Adobe Photoshop required

Some knowledge of libraries preferred

Knowledge of Art and Art History required

Attention to detail and high degree of accuracy

Ability to perform moderately complex tasks requiring training

Moderate to high decisiono making ability

Ability to work independently
